International Cleanup Weekend!

On October 13th and 14th Google is organizing an International Cleanup Weekend. The formula is a simple one:

1.) Organize small, independent cleanup efforts over a two-day period

2.) Encourage communities to bond together to restore areas that are important to them

3.) Use the social power of Google Maps to specify areas, organize teams, and provide instructions for anyone that wants to help out

4.) Repeat all over the globe

The best part is that anyone can start a cleanup effort of their own. If you've got an area in your community you'd like to see cleaned up but you've never felt like you possessed the organizational skills or ability to get enough people together, Google is making it simple to start a grassroots effort of your own. Every organized cleanup will be advertised on Google Maps to encourage others to join in and help out.

Here's the link to create your own campaign (it couldn't be easier): Organize a Cleanup

And finally, here's a look at one of the local cleanups in Boulder: Boulder Creek Cleanup

Let us know in the comments where you'll be cleaning up!
